Class X78 was built by Greenville as PC 220998-221018 in 1973, numbering 21 cars. Most of these were in captive service at the GM Lansing Car Assembly complex in Lansing, MI. They would be loaded with stampings at a nearby Fisher body panel plant and shuttled about a mile to the Lansing plant to be unloaded. This happened 2 times a trick for 3 tricks a day, at least 5 days a week.
