Between the busy Conrail commuter lines of the NYC/ New Jersey area and Chicago was this isolated former Erie Lackawanna operation between Cleveland and Youngstown, Ohio. On the longer days of summer you could catch it in daylight departing Cleveland. Here EL 833 pours on the coal after crossing the PC/PRR Cleveland Line diamond at Erie Crossing tower, out of sight around the corner. EL 833 would gain fame as Conrail's first executive unit, CR 4022 and receive a coat of dress blue. "Erie 833" survives to this day under private ownership.
