April Fools Day- joke or hoax!?
Starting February 7, 2007, NS started the transition of assigned power of SD40-2s to SD60Is on PPLX coal trains to Montour Power Plant. On April I, NS 6704 (CR 6846) SD60 standard cab was the leader of this NS 536 in addition to 3 SD40-2s normal power for "Ridge" trains.
This CHRS member did not notice whether one or more SD40-2s may have been off line, but the train stalled on Turbotville hill a few miles further east of here. It was about an hour before the train got moving again. This was the only time I ever saw an SD60 standard cab on any "Ridge" train.
