As loaded hoppers exited the thawing shed from the right, they were again met with a final set of retarders which were critical in controlling their speed the rest of the way through the facility. A hopper exiting the shed on either track would pass right to left through the gate and be able to stay on its track or cross over to the opposing just outside of the gate.
