A trio of CR-operated former EL U34CH's (CR roster 4176, 4159, and 4175) lined up ready for their train assignments at the Hoboken engine terminal in August, 1977.
Following the 1983 transition of Conrail passenger operations from
contract by NJDOT to operation by NJ Transit, the units were renumbered to
NJ Transit 4176, 4159, and 4175, respectively.
